Expertise and experience

The KnowMatTech has a longstanding experience in the synthesis, purification, and characterisation of molecular nanostructures, e.g. pristine, bio- and chemically functionalised CNT. The research is focused on optimisation of the process parameters in order to produce high purity CNT on a bulk scale. The pristine CNT are functionalised via different techniques such as wet chemistry at room temperature, gas phase reactions at elevated temperature, laser ablation and electroplating. An efficient purification process of the as-grown CNT has recently been established.
The Szczecin team is located at the of the Department of Hydrogen Technologies and Nanomaterials at SUT. It has a broad and long standing experience in the field of synthesis, purification, and characterisation of molecular nanostructures e.g. pristine CNT, biofunctionalized and chemically functionalised CNT. Research is focused on optimisation of the process parameters in order to produce high purity molecular nanostructures on a bulk scale. Pristine CNT are functionalised via different techniques such as wet chemistry at room temperature, gas phase reactions at elevated temperature, laser ablation and electroplating. The team established a very efficient purification process of the as-grown CNT.

Key equipment

The characterisation of the sample is conducted using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, infrared and Uv-Vis specroscopy. The yield of the raw material is estimated with thermogravimetry.
